Several months ago, we spotted model and fashion muse Lily Kwong in a killer pair of black patent loafers topped with adorable teddy bears—and we haven’t been able to get them out of our head ever since. Turns out, the maker of those smoking slippers is none other than Monika Chiang, a designer who’s been steadily building industry buzz since the beginning of the year.
Yesterday, Chiang unveiled her first freestanding NYC boutique, a 1,250-square-foot space in SoHo filled with her ready-to-wear and accessories. The boutique was decorated by Mary McDonald (whose name you might recognize from Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators) and is accented with forest green seating and brass fixtures. This is the designer’s second store thus far—she opened one in LA late last year, and is planning to launch others in Atlanta and Miami.
Can’t stop by Chiang’s digs? Not a problem—you can shop her wares online at Monikachiang.com, too. Below, see some of our current favorites.
