I just went to Coachella with hair stylist Teddi Crandford from Sally Hershberger. I’m so glad I did, because she had the best tips for surviving the HOT days (it got up to 104 degrees!) in the desert. If you’re festival-bound this summer, here’s what Teddi recommends. These tricks work—I’ve tried ‘em. And my hair is still pink.
Use a lot of hair powder to get fullness and to absorb the sweat from heat. Aerosol hair powders work best. Spray on your roots about six inches away from your head. Spray in sections. And then mist the rest of the hair. The more you use, the grittier the hair will feel, so it’s better to build it up slowly. But don’t be too shy.
If you have blonde highlights, dye your hair pink with Davines conditioner for red heads and leave it on for 10 minutes. Or you can use a pink manic panic. It does eventually wash out. I love flamingo. Purples are fun, too.
Braids are great because they keep your hair back in the hot sun. Especially along the hairline. Prep with hair powder to fatten the braids. It’s cute to pull the braid out a bit to make it fatter.
If your hair looks a little flat on the top, throw on a daisy chain (head piece). I’d say to make one especially before a festival. It’s an easy way to freshen up your look.
