While we wait with bated breath to see what the New York’s top designers will show at Spring 2013 Fashion Week, we’re equally excited about the music our favorite talents are loving right now. It’s about more than just a simple runway playlist—we wanted to get the scoop on the songs that are inspiring these designers and informing their entire creative process, too. So we asked some of our industry favorites to divulge their current tunes of choice—and now, we’re sharing them with you!
"My spring collection has a ‘cabinet of curiosities’ and kaleidoscopic theme, which incorporates many different colors, finishes and patterns into an eclectic grouping that somehow cohesively works," says designer Kelly Wearstler. "Which is why ‘Ghost Town’ by the Specials is a song that feels very much like the collection—it has a few different musical styles, tones and beats mixed in that wouldn’t perhaps traditionally fit together. But just like your stylish grandmother’s curio cabinet full of the collectables she’s amassed from years of exploration, it all ends up fitting together perfectly even though nothing matches."
