Thanks to new label Renzo + Kai, we’ve found ourselves non-stop day-dreaming of outdoor cocktail parties, island-hopping, and Hampton weekends—and, more specifically, what we’d wear while we were doing it.
The label’s designer Mrinalini Kumari has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry—Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Diane von Furstenberg, and Etro—and it shows. Combining embroidery and embellishment with meticulous hand-detailing techniques, Kumari crafts boho-luxe silhouettes, like hand-beaded and sequined tops, elaborately embroidered caftans and captivating gowns, all at non jet-set prices. For Spring 2013, she took inspiration from the throwback glamour of old Hollywood and combined it with beach glam fare—cue red-carpet-ready fish-scale sequin gowns, sunny beaded tops, and embroidered short shifts. Very Ibiza by way of Tinseltown.
