It certainly seems as though Raf Simons has settled into his semi-new position at Dior, and it’s starting to feel like Balenciaga and Alexander Wang have always worked together—but the game of designer musical chairs never really ends. Most recently, it’s centered around a rumor in WWD that Marc Jacobs might leave Louis Vuitton after 16 years to focus on his namesake label (and a possible IPO in the near future!) and will be succeeded by Balenciaga’s former creative director, Nicholas Ghesquière.
If the gossip is true, there will be lots of exciting things to look forward to; among them watching the already-huge Marc Jacobs brand get even huger and seeing how Louis Vuitton clothes look with a Ghesquière spin (although we would miss Marc’s elaborate runway presentations for the French fashion house). All the more reason to tune in to Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2014 livestream on Wednesday—if this is really MJ’s last show for the fashion house, he’ll surely make it his best. (Which is really saying something when you consider his track record includes sets with carousels, trains and moving escalators.)
