Yesterday morning, I was invited to stop by L.K. Bennett‘s first-ever New York City boutique at Columbus Circle for a special preview of the store. The British brand’s been around for years, but recently experienced a huge spike in sales thanks to the one and only Kate Middleton. She’s been snapped wearing L.K.’s nude platforms and woven wedges on multiple occasions. But as it happens, there’s a lot more to this UK fixture than Duchess-worthy shoes.
For starters, L.K. Bennett’s currently growing its handbag offerings. And both the classic, open-topped Crocus tote in bright leather and the textural, tiny Natalie clutch (both priced in the low-to-mid-hundreds) seemed like instant classics to me. On the clothing front, there were tons of options for the young professional whose taste skews toward the polished: think slimming day dresses ruched at the waist, bow-tied blouses and two-button blazers in tons of colorways. For those more daring, I also spied a gorgeous, fitted leather dress with a flattering square neckline that would work great for a night out.
Of course, L.K. Bennett’s best known for its footwear, and the new store had plenty to offer in that department. In addition to Those Pumps (in multiple hues), I spied adorable scalloped ballet flats, snake-embossed peeptoe heels, summery cork wedges and some very on-trend lace-up booties in laser-cut leather. Should Kate ever feel like dressing outside the royal box, we’ve found a style for her to try.
