Nanette Lepore, best known for printed dresses beloved by girls everywhere, gave us a sneak peek into the inspiration behind her spring 2012 collection. Check it out here!
Lucky: What’s your first step in designing a collection?
Nanette Lepore: I start with the prints, everything else comes from there.
How much of what you put on the mood board actually ends up in the collection?
My mood boards are evocative so the images don’t translate literally to the collection.
What’s the first thing you do after the last model leaves the runway?
Fight the urge to cry, then grab my daughter’s hand and walk down the runway…
What do you like about designing spring clothes?
Simplicity. All it takes is a great dress to have a finished look.
What are your essential items (beauty, fashion, food) to get you through the week before your show?
Dark chocolate almond bark and lots of coffee.
Can’t get enough of Nanette? Check back on Wednesday, September 14. We’ll be posting a review of her spring show!
