I did not walk…I RAN to Marc by Marc Jacobs in my vintage studded denim jacket with custom patchwork by MMJ (when I really want to support something, my festive side comes out). Really throwing me for a loop, the designer that used to start his shows hours behind schedule was running early! I had to elbow my way through the crowds to get a good look at the runway, which was really worth seeing.
The aesthetic that we know and love was there, but it felt a bit more grown up this time around—perhaps because the line celebrated it’s tenth birthday this year! There were so many flawlessly constructed tailored classics and you have the option between neutrals and crazy brights that’ll throw you off in a good way. We were particularly wow’ed by the minimal mod suiting, the jumpsuits, the black and white peplum dress, the ankle strap shoes. And by the way—all of us editors agreed that we’ll being wearing visors in the spring. As for the menswear—we’re going to be pretty jealous of any boy that cops that neon pink suit.
After 10 years, this line is looking better that ever. The whole crowd was dancing (bonus points for playing Britney Spears, "I Can’t Take No More" during the finale) and smiling because this is and always will be one of those collections that celebrates how fun and youthful fashion can be. Happy birthday, Marc. Here’s to many more!
