After nearly four years at Theory, Olivier Theyskens is officially out at the contemporary sportswear brand, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The Belgian-born designer first joined Theory in 2010 with a capsule collection that quickly led to an artistic directorship; in 2011, Theyskens’ Theory made its first runway appearance at New York Fashion Week. But we first figured there was trouble in paradise back in December, when the Theyskens’ Theory line was abruptly discontinued.
“I am grateful for Olivier’s extraordinary contribute to Theory over the past three and a half years, and I am particularly excited to see what he does next,” said Andrew Rosen, chief executive officer of Theory. “While he has already accomplished so much, I am confident in the power of his artistic skill and believe his future will be very bright.”
Theyskens, who will be seeking other design projects, added: “It has been amazing opportunity to work with Andrew and to benefit from his knowledge in this dynamic segment of fashion. I will always cherish our friendship.”
Theyskens’ final collection for Theory will be Pre-Spring 2015.
