Sure, we love our rock ‘n’ roll greats unconditionally and regardless of mainstream trends—but every few years, a classic musical legend seems to become especially popular. Back in 2005, just after Walk the Line hit theaters, every single one of my college friends went absolutely crazy for Johnny Cash, creating iTunes playlists devoted exclusively to the country legend and humming "Walk the Line" under their breath wherever they went. Two years later, as soon as La Vie en Rose came out, "Je ne regrette rien" somehow became everyone’s favorite tune (and somehow worked its way into 2010’s Inception (case in point?).
Now, it seems as though 2013 is slated to be Elvis’ year, at least among fashion folks—but it’s not because of a biopic or special-edition rerelease of the King’s greatest hits. Nope, it’s because of Opening Ceremony‘s new collection of sweatshirts, denim jackets and tees devoted to the Graceland great. The OC x Elvis capsule, shoppable now, includes pullovers emblazoned with some of Elvis’ most renowned singles—"Love Me Tender," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Suspicious Minds"—as well as a number of items splashed with the singer’s unforgettable visage. The only thing that’s egregiously absent from the lineup? A pair of blue suede shoes. C’mon, OC!
