Following in the footsteps of Narciso Rodriguez, Derek Lam and Catherine Malandrino, Peter Som announced this morning that he’s joining Kohl’s DesigNation series. The initiative charges designers to create a wallet-friendly capsule collection inspired by an international locale, like Narciso Rodriguez’s Istanbul collection and Catherine Malandrino’s Paris one.
Som’s St. Barth’s-inspired edition, on the other hand, should be a beachy change of pace; think punchy colors and breezy, hangs-softly-on-your-body fabrics like the stuff in his sketches above. They’re the sort of things that’ll shift your mindset to a "whatever, it’s vacation" laidbackness no matter where you’re wearing them. (That stripey maxi dress needs no accessories to be a great dinner outfit, and those pants look not only polished but also drapey and cozy. I could see myself wearing them a lot.)
Available next spring, the collection will be an even bigger temptation when you consider the prices, starting at $36 and topping off at just $88, so they’re happy, no fuss clothes with a non-intense price tag, too. I’ve never been to St. Barth’s, but I’m definitely a fan of that.
