Last night, a handful of editors were invited to preview Phillip Lim’s forthcoming line for Target up close—and guys, it’s every bit as good as we’d hoped. That amazing floral color-blocked day dress? It looks even better in person, folks. Phillip’s classic khaki trench, trimmed in baby blue and priced at just $79.99? It had every guest in attendance ooh-ing and aah-ing. I fell for a two-toned, drop-waisted dress with a pleated skirt—so very Jordan Baker—and a duo of solid-colored sleeveless sheaths with half-exposed jeweled necklines, a look Lim’s visited several times before in his primary line. As for the graphic "BOOM!" sweatshirt and knit dress, a clear nod to the designer’s comic book-inspired Pre-Fall 2012 collection, those were perhaps the most Instagrammed pieces of the entire evening—rivaled only, of course, by the leather goods on display.
Yep, the aforementioned less-pricey take on Lim’s iconic Pashli bag was there, along with a fun leopard-spotted canvas tote and sleek black dopp kit. My personal favorite carryall of the lot, however, was a beautiful mini satchel in a bright goldenrod shade, priced at just $34.99 (!) and able to be slung over the shoulder or across the body.
For fans of Lim’s Initials lingerie line, there were also several silky tank-and-tap-pants pairings, along with grab-and-go kits for guys and girls pre-packed with underwear, socks and other overnight necessities. Click through to see all 24 looks (for 24 hours of one’s busy lifestyle, of course), along with pricing—what will you be snapping up when the collection hits stores on September 15?
