There are a few things you can always expect from the annual Pirelli calendar: mind-bogglingly beautiful women, usually in various states of undress (Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and basically every other supe have been featured). Photography by some of the biggest names in the business (Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber and Patrick Demarchelier, to name a few). Incredible fashion (that is, when clothes are involved). But this year, it’s doing something totally new: featuring a full-figured woman on its pages.
In this morning’s issue of WWD, it’s been reported that plus size model (and any size gorgeous) Candice Huffine has been tapped for this year’s project. She’ll be the first ever lady larger than sample size involved with "The Cal" in its 50 year history. The rest of the genetically-blessed women on board are the industry standard—including Adriana Lima, Karen Elson and fellow newcomer Gigi Hadid—but that doesn’t make us any less excited for the final product. We’re all about seeing women of every shape represented, so it’s nice to have a mix. Plus, the entire calendar will be styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Steven Meisel, so it’s essentially guaranteed to look amazing.
You can catch a glimpse of Huffine and a few of her fellow models in the slideshow above—click through to get a sneak peek of the calendar before it’s November debut!
