One of my first beauty products was a blue plastic powder compact from the drugstore. The makeup made my complexion geisha-pale in color, but I loved it because it seemed like something one of the cool girls in a teen movie would use.
These days, pressed powder is no longer part of my everyday routine, but I still keep a compact mirror in my bag at all times for touch-ups. It’s a more grown-up-looking compact, of course. It’s gold and encrusted with crystals and I love it because it seems like something a glamorous woman in a black and white movie would use.
