When my editor, Lauren, walked into the web room last week holding a leopard speckled satchel, I was surprised by how much I liked it. Since the print is so tricky to wear in a non-Real Housewife-y kind of way, I tend to avoid it entirely. But her bag, a neat boxy design with no flashy embellishments, was just enough pattern against her solid black skirt/red pullover/grey beanie outfit. The subtly ironic, Alexa-Chung-pairing-her-sexy-dress-with-work-boots effect inspired a lift on the wild cat ban in my own wardrobe.
Of course, my first leopard purchase in years will be something equally understated—like any of the styles from Prism’s first ever range of handbags. Known for its sleekly simple swimwear and sunglasses, the brand’s three piece limited edition collection—including a tote ($850), mini cross body ($590) and oversized clutch that doubles as an iPad case ($477)—caters to the same jet set customer after she leaves the beach and heads to the office. Where she’ll get lots of compliments on her new spotted carryall and how quietly cool it looks.
Shop all three styles now on Thecorner.com.
