Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are on a hot streak! Somehow, the pairs’ recent CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year win managed to coalesce with their label’s 10-year anniversary and a planned re-issue of it’s very first collection. The pieces, which were first sold in 2003, are available exclusively in Barneys’ store and online today; it’s fitting, as the company was Proenza’s very first client.
Since 2003 wasn’t that long ago (right?), the original line has been slightly tweaked with new fabrications and embellishments, giving those who bought everything the first time around a reason to update. Of course, for those of us who don’t any vintage PS, we could go either way with the modifications: while the changes look really, really, good, the cuts are classic enough (pencil skirts, sheath dresses, trenches, slim trousers) that the originals would still hold up.
Regardless, it’s worth splurging on something (and yes, with prices that start at $350 for a T-shirt and top out with a $5,650 bustier, everything is a splurge), and fast—sizes are disappearing online, so you better hurry and place your order now.
