Because the general populace can’t seem to get enough sportswear as of late, one wonderfully unlikely duo is coming together to make shoppers’ lives infinitely cooler. Self-described “SportLifestyle” brand Puma is expanding its relationship with Alexander McQueen to collaborate on a range called PUMA x McQ, which will launch on August 1.
The two companies have been working together since 2005; their first joint shoe line debuted the following spring in 2006. This brand-new collection, however, is set to be something more unique, unchartered and—perhaps most relevantly—timely. According to a joint statement, the collaboration will spotlight Alexander McQueen’s “rebellious spirit and bold youth culture references,” as well as Puma’s long history in athletics.
“The mixing of sportswear with high fashion defines much of modern style, so it felt right to partner with a brand with such a strong history of designer collaborations,” Alexander McQueen brand director Andy Rogers told Women’s Wear Daily.
While the twosome’s past collaborations have previously been restricted to shoes, the two labels are keeping mum as to what precisely we can expect from this particular go-around. But we’re sure of one thing, and that’s that this range—whatever it may entail—is going to be one of the coolest things out there.
