Aside from her beloved Kanye West, Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci may just be Kim Kardashian‘s most devoted fan. After all, he did deem Kim "the most beautiful pregnant woman [he] dressed in [his] career" after outfitting her in a somewhat infamous floral gown for the 2013 Met Gala. So, would he go so far as to equate Kim with one of the most iconic females of all time? You bet.
In yesterday’s edition of The Sunday Times, Riccardo discussed his fast friendship with Kimye as a couple. "I met her as the girlfriend of a good friend," Tisci said of Kim K. "I just wanted a moment with her to understand—and I fell in love. She’s the Monroe of our age. People think she’s like a doll, but actually she’s tough and clever."
We don’t want to disregard Riccardo’s high opinion of the reality TV star, but let us entertain an idea for a moment. We’re all aware that Kanye is an incredibly persuasive man, yes? It may be worth revisiting an interview Yeezy did with radio station Hot 97 in November, in which he also likened Kim (over October Vanity Fair cover star Kate Upton) to a certain blonde sex symbol.
"I have a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, but actually I love them because they empower us over, you know?" Kanye said. "They are empowering us over Vanity Fair that want to say that Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain’t Marilyn Monroe. Kim is Marilyn Monroe, you know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial."
