A congratulations are in order! At tonight’s annual Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, Rihanna was named the CFDA’s 2014 Fashion Icon—and she certainly dressed for the part, as far as shock and awe goes.
Let’s preface this by saying that the 26-year-old singer could wear essentially anything and pull it off better than anyone, by a landslide. Crop tops, minidresses, sky-high heels, sweatsuits—the world is her sartorial oyster, so much so that her stylist Mel Ottenberg recently claimed that Rihanna is literally running out of clothes.
Now, time to talk about her "look," or lack thereof, perhaps. She effectively let it all hang out in a completely sheer (albeit shimmery) fishnet slip dress, g-string undies included. And as any true lady would, she counteracted the R-rated ensemble with a contrastingly conservative headscarf. The real kicker? The whole look, made by designer Adam Selman, featured a grand total of 216,000 Swarovski crystals. Dang.
Our apologies for thinking that RiRi had previously outdone herself because, well, what were we thinking?
