We’re obsessed with AKA New York’s chain-link patterned silk pants, but of course they’re sold out. But then again, that gave us extra gumption to stop by the line’s sample sale this morning to try our luck. As soon as we stepped into the teeny, tiny showroom, we dove into the four huge sample boxes on the floor (this before heading to the the two racks, which were jam-packed with spring/summer ’11 stock). Bargain hunters rejoice!
Samples are a mere $25
, and current-season merch is $100
and under. We
snatched up an embroidered Navajo top for $40 (originally $198)
sunset-colored Malibu handkerchief-hem dress for $60 (originally $398)
and– yay!–a sample pair of the pants that we’d been coveting for only
$25 (originally $198)
. But perhaps the best part? The designers behind
AKA New York, former Elle fashion editors Karen Reinitz and Abigale
Levinson, are on hand to guide you through the goods and offer helpful
advice. They’re also serving up another sweet deal: buy four items and
get a fifth for free. But be sure to bring plenty of cash, as credit
cards and checks are not accepted.
