Let’s get one thing straight: Shailene Woodley, the 20-year-old actress who’s earned industry accolades for her role in The Descendants, is a sharp dresser. And appropriately, she’s been embraced by the fashion industry as one to watch (just like Elle Fanning, Hailee Steinfeld, Chloë Moretz, et al). We loved both of the dresses she picked for the Golden Globes on Sunday—a beaded Marchesa for the ceremony and a single-sleeved Calvin Klein Collection for the afterparty.
It was what was underneath that Calvin—and more specifically, on Woodley’s feet—that was the problem. Sometime in between the awards show and the party, she swapped out the Tabitha Simmons heels she’d worn on the red carpet for a pair of those foot-shaped running shoes that feature individual "toe pockets" and are threatening to overtake a certain orange clog (pssst: they come in orange) as our most-hated article of footwear. Why, Shailene, why?
It gets worse. Turns out the style has quite a celeb following that, while somewhat under the radar, has been documented by paparazzi. Read on to see the other star victims—sorry, fans—of these kind-of weird kicks. And let us know what you think: would you wear these to do anything other than go running?
