There’s something flying around the tents at New York Fashion Week: avian prints. Birds of all shapes and sizes have been popping up on runways throughout the week, from Wes Gordon‘s elegant swan dress (banish all thoughts of Björk—his incarnation was anything but kitschy) to Thakoon’s gorgeous caged canaries (or were they finches?). Meanwhile, Rachel Roy covered a silk collared romper with a bird pattern she’d created herself, and Lyn Devon—inspired by the vibrant culture of Mexico—whipped up a colorful print covered in feathered friends (plus a few festive mermaids). Victoria Beckham, in a fun update on her smash-hit kitten print, put a bird on the two-tone dresses in her more affordable Victoria by VB collection. If ever there was a trend worth tweeting about—in more ways than one—we’d say this is it.
Want to put a bird on it (ha!) before the rest of the fashion flock (ha!) pounces? Click through to shop our avian-patterned picks now. We won’t judge if you feel compelled to break into a verse of "Surfin’ Bird," Peter Griffin-style.
