The Cools first hit our radar in December when it was in Beta testing mode. Today, the e-commerce site officially launched. If ShopStyle and Facebook ever had an e-baby, it would be this site. Equal parts online marketplace and social network, it provides a constant stream of products tailored to your preferences.
Upon joining, new members build a personalized feed by answering questions about their tastes in fashion, design and art. Users refine their profile by posting images and videos that inspire them, as well as following site "ambassadors" like Dree Hemingway, Lauren Santo Domingo and Agyness Deyn, who handpick their favorite items for sale. Also, unlike a lot of other e-commerce platforms, The Cools doesn’t stock items exclusively from well-established brands. Emerging designers, artists and boutiques are also featured on the site, and members can sell things, too. The result is a great blend of vintage clothes and designs from up-and-coming talent.
Need another incentive to join? The Cools is hosting a "Jamboree" event tonight to celebrate their launch and if you sign up right now, you’ll be added to the guest list—which already includes Erin Fetherston, Adam Green and Anna Sheffield from Bing Bang. Check out the invite on their Tumblr, and then head over to Thecools.com to sign up now.
