California-based label Trovata consistently turns out fresh silhouettes with a bi-coastal style. Inspired by the seaside, each piece has a breezy, slightly nautical feel reminiscent of an L.A. kid on vacation in Nantucket.
We were especially blown away by the label’s crisply cool collection for Spring 2012. This year, it seems that the brand’s surfer girl muse has grown up a bit. Instead of slouchy knits, easy denim and linen blazers took the lead, topping off cropped trousers and midi dresses. The entire effect was still very casual, but also unbelievably sophisticated (so, basically, the type of look we strive for everyday).
Since the clothes haven’t hit stores yet, we’ve brought you this behind-the-scenes video of John Whitledge, founder and creative director of Trovata. Listen to John talk about his design process for spring and then visit trovata.com to check out the entire lookbook!
