If there’s one face we’ve come to know and love from the world of street style, it’s Miroslava Duma. The Russian writer—who has held positions at Harper’s Bazaar Russia, Tatler, Glamour and OK—consistently draws cameras with her impeccable style and taste. We’ve often spotted her outside major fashion shows, besieged by photographers and flashbulbs aching to capture her look.
Having won the hearts of the international fashion crowd, we knew we had to chat with her. And so, on her recent trip to NYC (in between Paris and London) we ran uptown to the Carlyle to talk style and the life of Mira.
Lucky: What are you top places to shop in New York, London and Paris?
Mira Duma: In New York, I love Opening Ceremony for their eclectic mix. I love Barneys for their new shoe floor. I love Bergdorfs because for me it’s the epitome of a truly American store. In London, Dover Street Market—it has best selection of clothes and jewelry. In Paris, Colette. It’s the best shop in the world! First concept store that gave birth to all the other concept stores. They’ve got amazing buyers, beautiful presentation and unique pieces!
For a typical fashion week, how much clothing do you bring along with you to travel?
I bring two large suitcases and a carry-on. Although these days because I have a baby boy, I usually stay three days only. I’ve become very good at consolidating so I pack one large and one small suitcase.
Anything particularly strike you from the spring shows?
I loved the shoes at Rodarte show, the hats and suits at Ralph Lauren and the dresses at Chanel.
What was your very first designer purchase, the item that got you hooked on fashion?
Probably my Chanel jackets, which are timeless pieces of fashion.
