In her new web column, Lucky contributor Helen Schifter reveals what’s she’s wearing, watching and of course, buying.
Classic and retro footwear have (yet again) been embraced by the cool kids. For me, I love Midinette loafers from Belgian Shoes. Handmade, almost a slipper with a soft leather sole and a miniscule bow (even on the men’s), they’re only available in one funny little store in midtown Manhattan and on its kooky website. These shoes are truly old-school; I’m kind of hoping fashionistas don’t embrace them whole hog, but that may be wishful thinking.
Speaking of mocs, L.L.Bean has a version of the iconic Maine Hunting Boot with Gore-Tex liners. I like the short version, just above the ankle…and the liner fills out the boot cuff, making it more flattering (i.e. your ankle and leg look skinnier).
