Swarovski and Hollywood go hand in hand like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The crystal baubles had a sparkling presence on the red carpet at last Sunday’s Golden Globes, most notably on Michelle Williams’ jeweled Fred Leighton headband. So, it’s no wonder that the legendary Austrian brand staged its Spring 2012 preview at the suitably glamorous Beverly Hills Hotel on Wednesday night.
The collection’s theme? Hollywood High Prom—Class of 1962. Picture vintage-inspired pearl chokers, beaded corsage-like bracelets and floral brooches and earrings in pastels. Estelle and Dita Von Teese joined LA-based vintage guru Cameron Silver, who presided over the party. His biggest contribution was certainly the mannequins donning vintage couture gowns from the likes of Madame Gres to Cristobal Balenciaga, accessorized with over-the-top couture pieces from Swarovski Paris.
Silver’s favorite bauble of the bunch was the shoulder duster, joking it was "the most practical one." And then he added in a more serious tone, "I know no one has that piece in their closet. Plus, every woman has good shoulders and should show them off." The collection will arrive in stores beginning February 1.
