Tavi Gevinson, the 16-year-old style blogger and creator of digital magazine Rookie, is about to add another line to her impressive resumé: she’s just been signed to United Talent Agency (UTA), one of the biggest talent agencies in Hollywood, and has already landed her very first film role.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the fashion fixture will make her film debut in director Nicole Holofcener’s latest motion picture, an as-yet-untitled work to be distributed by Fox Searchlight. Sharing screen time with major Hollywood names like James Gandolfini and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tavi will be playing a lonely but precocious only child named Chloe. Sounds like the part won’t be too much of a stretch, considering Tavi launched Style Rookie at the tender age of 11 and is arguably the most famous independent style blogger on the planet.
If the young writer’s latest career move seems like a strange one, consider this: she’s worked with the likes of Judd Apatow, Lena Dunham and John Waters on Rookie features, so she clearly harbors a major interest in show business. And she did just star (and sing!) in Wren’s short film Beware of Young Girls. We’re excited to see Tavi hit the silver screen—how about you?
