Taylor Swift’s New York City life can be separated into two activities, and two activities alone. The first, of course, is hanging out with her new(ish) BFF, Karlie Kloss—and the second is leaving the gym looking like a ‘50s commercial model. For months, onlookers have struggled to understand how (and perhaps more pertinently, why) Swift exits her gym, Model Fit, in pristine, sweat-less form every time.
It’s somewhat heartening to know that those outside the fashion industry (read: late night television hosts) harbor the same confusion. On yesterday’s Late Night, Seth Meyers made a point of questioning Swift’s post-exercise routine. And, well, she did not handle the topic well.
“What is going on? Tell me how this works,” Seth asked the 24-year-old songstress (while also speaking to our souls).
“That is how everyone looks when they come out of the gym,” said Swift, who wore a white and black leather Jonathan Simkhai minidress. “I like to bring a change of clothes, okay? I just like a change of clothes! I bring a hairbrush with me!”
She went on to explain how the Big Apple inspires her to put on an Outfit with a capital “O.” “I think New York is one of those cities that feels worth dressing up for, if that makes any sense. I don’t know! I just feel like when I walk out onto the sidewalk in New York I have to try a little harder. But it’s not an extra hour at the gym. I read that somewhere and I was like, that’s ridiculous.”
Okay, but…that still doesn’t explain how she actually performs such getting-ready sorcery. Whatever, Swift. Whatever.
