My hair is naturally blonde—but not the pretty kind. Left alone, it’s kind of a dishwater-y, lusterless blonde that makes everything about me look … duller. And while it’s nothing a good colorist can’t handle, trips to the salon are costly and crazy time-consuming. I can tolerate about two, maybe three, visits per year; and even though I don’t have grays (yet), those in-between stretches are not very not cute.
A few years ago, however, while rummaging through the Lucky beauty closet, I stumbled across this Go Blonder lightening spray by John Frieda. My roots at the time were basically to my ears, so I decided to give it a try—and it worked! Like magic! The spray—which you apply to wet hair post-shower, then blow-dry to activate the heat-sensitive formula—makes my roots lighter and brighter in a totally subtle, natural-looking way. Plus, it’s only $10.
It’s the perfect little pick-me-up. Sorry, brunettes.
