The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is renewing its Americans in Paris initiative and will once again send 10 lucky designers across the pond. Sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger, with the intention of exposing emerging American labels to a broader market, the program will run from March 3-5 at the Palais Royal, close to where most of Paris Fashion Week’s participating designers will hold their shows. There, the CFDA’s chosen participants will be able to show their fall collections and mingle with visiting and local retailers in a shared showroom space.
So who are the 10 talents set to travel abroad? Albertus Swanepoel, Billy Reid, Creatures of the Wind, George Esquivel, Gregory Parkinson, Monique Péan, Ohne Titel, Pamela Love, Prabal Gurung and Simon Spurr. Out of that group, eight are returning participants from last year’s "Americans in Paris" program. Do you wish the CFDA had cast a wider net and included more Paris first-timers, or do you think this group’s collective talent merits them a second showing?
