After years of holding out, Tom Ford unveiled an e-commerce component to his website on Tuesday, offering beauty products and hoards of women’s and men’s bags, shoes and accessories. Thanks to the site’s, erm, rather arresting imagery, we have no doubt that the designer’s e-commerce debut will be super-successful: the products are modeled by stark naked models.
The site itself is incredibly slick and visually appealing, including but not limited to the gals in their birthday suits. It features a Pinterest-like series of navigational photographs that lead users to the collection of their choice, and showcases the aforementioned bold imagery throughout.
Tom Ford has long been skeptical of e-commerce in fashion, saying in September 2010: "I don’t get the need for this immediacy. In fact, I think it’s bad." Well, times have changed: the designer said he even plans to incorporate ready-to-wear and "additional categories" in the future.
