Remember that time Icelandic songstress Björk showed up to the 2001 Academy Awards wearing a stuffed swan? Honestly, how could we have forgotten: it crops up every single year as a sort of warning to awards show attendees, and there’s no doubt that this weird, creature-embellished minidress has established its own outlandish "worst dressed" standard. Thirteen years later, Björk’s Marjan Pejoski-designed swan (seen below) continues to live on in cultural relevance, but a fashion brand had never dared to recreate it—until now, that is.
As Fashionista reports, showgoers at Valentino‘s couture runway show on Wednesday were intrigued to see a very similar swan-like creation walk down the catwalk. Okay, so the two swans are definitely different, there’s no doubt about that—in color, at the very least. While the skirt of the Valentino number is a pretty nude tulle (and there are exposed nipples involved in the Spring 2014 version), the overall aesthetic of the dress does remain the same.
We’re obviously eager to see if this updated swan winds up making a red carpet appearance of its own—but for now, it’s pretty awesome that Valentino interpreted such a big fashion "don’t" into something, well, cool.
