If you work in a super-corporate environment, it’s hard to get experimental with shoes. Most of my lawyer and banker friends—because you know, I have so many of those—wear simple black and brown pumps with the requisite grey suits and pencil skirts.
For those who do want to test the limits, French designer Veronique Branquinho—who re-launched her namesake ready-to-wear line earlier this month at Paris Fashion Week—has a solution. She’s not asking those who must dress conservatively to do otherwise. Instead, via her collaboration with Spanish footwear brand Camper, Branquinho has created two simple styles that are just the teeniest bit subversive.
The pump comes in a gorgeous mahogany color—which looks great with grey suiting—but it’s the sliver of yellow platform that really pops. And the subtlety sexy mary jane strap on the shootie gives it just enough edge.
Of course, both have cushy-comfortable soles, in line with the rest of Camper’s cobblestone street-friendly collection. So go ahead, take a fashion risk without your stuffy coworkers noticing.
