"I’m guilty of just wearing a simple black triangle bikini every season," she told me at the brand’s swim launch yesterday. "But this year I’m looking to bring in some color and make things more fun. I’m loving the animal and jungle prints Victoria’s Secret did for this season, and I feel like florals have been huge recently too." She told me she’s especially looking forward to experimenting with mixed prints—how very on-trend.
Of her tendency to choose more muted beachwear looks, Candice said, "It’s funny—so many people put a lot of thought into their daytime wardrobe, but then when it comes to swimwear they just go for whatever. It’s really important to put in the time to finding a bikini that fits both your body and your personality. That’s why I so admire the women in Brazil—they wear their bikinis like a second skin." Fittingly, this season’s VS swimwear collection was inspired by Brazilian beach culture—and with the leopard-spotted, heavily embellished and even pom-pom-trimmed two-pieces we saw at the preview, these suits wouldn’t look out of place on the Rio shore.
