Despite the fact that I’ve written time and time again about the entirely underwhelming book that was Mockingjay, the book, I couldn’t avoid tuning into the film adaptation’s brand-new trailer when it hit the interwebs early this morning. While, yes, The Hunger Games franchise has put out two PSA-like teasers for Mockingjay: Part 1, this is the first time we’re getting a glimpse at the actual movie.
But in the minute-long trailer, we—somewhat predictably—don’t learn much about life post-Quarter Quell. We do see the late Philip Seymour Hoffman as former Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee trying to convince a new character—Julianne Moore’s Alma Coin, District 13 president—that Katniss Everdeen is sane enough to lead their rebellion. There’s also a shot of a very badass Natalie Dormer, who trades her navel-plunging gowns of King’s Landing for tattoos and an uppercut as Cressida, a District 13 rebel leader.
That aside, it’s an exciting, intriguing peek at the forthcoming flick. Watch the trailer below:
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 hits theaters on November 21.
