If I had $1,000 to spare, I would already own a pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes. Those forward-shifted platforms tip the shape in a subtle, off-kilter direction, and I love it. They’re basic and unadorned, yet distinct. Like woven leather Bottega Veneta accessories or laser cut Azzedine Alaïa anything, I always know a pair of Charlotte Olympia pumps when I see them.
Or I did— until these Olcay Gulsen heels confused me. They have a handful of the Charlotte Olympia hallmarks: pencil-thin stiletto, two-tone palette, even the slight upward curve of the platform at the toe, so I thought they were part of her line, too. The biggest difference, it seems, is the price: $450 for the Olcay Gulsens vs. $995 for the Charlotte Olympias.
Of course, with their raffia base and gold mirror platform, the Charlotte Olympia shoes look a little more luxe than the Olcay Gulsens. But for the price of one pair, you could buy two Olcay Gulsen pairs. Or one pair of Olcay Gulsens and all the stuff below…and still have enough money left over some equally coquettish red lipstick. Which would you choose?
