The Scene: A dimly lit space at Milk Studios in the Meatpacking District—the mood is festive, relaxed, happy. Fashion world insiders commiserate and chit chat after another busy day while photographers meander about, snapping candid photos. Barneys’ creative director Simon Doonan carries a monogrammed Goyard bag and Anne Slowey’s baby daughter, Afton, sits shirtless in the middle of the runway, poking at her mommy’s smart phone. White paper goody bags are stashed beneath the spare benches, filled with Shishedo samples in a cosmetics bag that reads, "In Case of Emergency, Put Mascara on Yourself Before Helping Others."
The Look: Space Age Safari. Digitized prints and modern silhouettes are juxtaposed with traditional tribal motifs and plush shearling while proportional play remains a constant theme. For every tailored skirt and pant there is an oversize jacket or batwing sleeve. The color scheme remains neutral—metallic greys, black and white—punctuated by a series of accent hues—highlighter yellow, royal blue, emerald green and rich violet.
Pieces We Want: A slouchy menswear-inspired coat that looked fresh and dynamic in a slightly silver hue, set off beautifully by the model’s soft pink flush. Off the runway we’d wear it with pants (skinny, black) a turtleneck (slim, blinding white) and the same rosy makeup.
