Amidst her whirlwind promotional tour for Guardians of the Galaxy, Zoe Saldana swung by the Late Show With David Letterman last night in an attempt to one-up the maternity-friendly Lanvin dress she donned for Tuesday’s screening. This time, she went with a similarly flattering Monique Lhuillier dress, baring her bump for the late-night television crowd.
As a go-to casting choice for mega-watt sci-fi flicks (see: Avatar, Star Trek, etc.), the 36-year-old has established a definite niche for herself amongst the more action-inclined of Hollywood actresses: there are the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider types, and there are the Zoe Saldana types. The latter tend to favor films in outer space.
When Letterman asked Saldana about this peculiar pattern, she responded by saying, “Trust me, it’s not something I’ve been planning. Every science fiction movie I wrap, I’m like, ‘This is the last one. It’s done. I’m moving on.’ And then a great filmmaker calls me and is like, ‘You want to be a badass in space?’ Hm, alright.”
Can’t say I wouldn’t do the same thing. Watch her interview below:
