New York City-based womenswear label Honor is often regarded as a decidedly happy line. Season after season, president and head designer Giovanna Randall sends ladylike and somewhat free-spirited creations down the runway to an increasing amount of critical acclaim. After all, this is the label that had its models skip during its Spring 2014 finale.
But Honor’s latest campaign video demonstrates a darker, more enchanted interpretation of the label’s typically joyous demeanor. Zosia Mamet stars as a young lady mourning the recent death of her friend, played by Zoe Kazan. Mamet wakes up grief-stricken on the morning of Kazan’s character’s birthday, prompting her to bake a cake and bring it to the cemetery. What follows isn’t as bittersweet as it is beautiful, all while showcasing the feminine array of Randall’s prim designs. In just four minutes, the short film is perhaps the most aesthetically gorgeous thing you’ll see all day.
